Changelog
Every release, newest first. The same notes your Mac shows when Ember updates itself.
-
0.3.10
Latest- Local servers stay visible. Fixed a discovery failure caused by harmless warnings about inaccessible mounted volumes, which could hide running local servers and Docker ports.
- Claude sessions use familiar names. Ember now shows Claude Desktop conversation titles instead of generic folder names, and refreshes them when session activity changes.
-
0.3.9
- Cooler under pressure. Large session lists avoid repeated presentation work, keeping quiet sessions near zero CPU and busy panels responsive.
- Docker controls stop the right thing. Kill and Kill all use verified container targets through the local Docker Engine, and refuse ambiguous targets instead of risking Docker itself.
- The menu bar button behaves like a toggle. Clicking Ember while its panel is open now closes it reliably, including clicks delivered without an app window.
- A calmer empty state. The compact, centered All quiet view keeps Ember useful without filling the panel with setup or management clutter.
-
0.3.8
- Lighter transcript monitoring. Ember processes large, fragmented Claude Code output incrementally, reducing repeated work when several terminal sessions are active.
- Fewer unnecessary redraws. Repeated activity updates no longer redraw an unchanged menu bar icon or rewrite the same session count.
- Quieter Settings previews. Hidden style previews stay stopped, and previews pause when the Settings window is minimized.
- More efficient color rendering. Built-in colors no longer repeatedly decode an unused custom color while the interface updates.
-
0.3.7
- A simpler first opening. One welcome screen takes you straight to Ember. Connect your agents inside the menu bar panel, with setup still available while local servers are running.
- Clearer connection states. Agent buttons keep their place and turn blue when connected. Codex only shows Connected after its hooks are ready; failed connections show a useful retry instead of a false success.
- AI activity is optional. Turn AI monitoring off independently from localhost in Settings. It stays on by default, and localhost-only mode puts Kill all beside the settings button without an extra section label.
- A more useful header. See burning sessions and running localhost counts instead of idle sessions. The first server scan shows that it is checking, without briefly claiming there are no servers.
- Smoother keyboard navigation. Shift-Tab now moves backwards through the panel correctly, including the setup controls and Settings.
-
0.3.6
- Fewer interruptions from Codex. Automatically handled permission checks no longer trigger "Needs you". Explicit questions still do. Codex permission-approval alerts are disabled until a reliable signal can distinguish them from automatic checks.
- Alerts clear when the moment has passed. Answered questions, resumed sessions and disabled notification settings cancel pending alerts. Old notifications are removed when Ember starts.
- A more accurate localhost list. Valid high-numbered ports and Python servers are no longer hidden. Shared listeners are deduplicated after filtering, while separate address bindings remain accessible. Recognized debugger and runtime control ports stay out of the list.
- Fresh server status. Reopening the panel or changing settings cannot restore an outdated scan. Failed scans show an unavailable state, and health checks test the local server without following redirects.
- Safer server controls. Stop checks that the process still belongs to the displayed server before sending a signal, then refreshes the list to confirm what is still running.
-
0.3.5
- A localhost list you can trust. Ember now hides private runtime control sockets and shows each deliberately exposed port once, so Wrangler and similar tools no longer fill the panel with noise.
- Docker ports are back. Ports published through Docker Desktop appear as Docker rows, without a Kill control that could accidentally quit Docker itself.
- Multi-port processes stay accurate. Every useful port gets its own row, keyboard target and health state, and the header reports local servers instead of saying nothing is running.
-
0.3.4
- Interrupting Claude Code no longer leaves a row burning. Press Esc while a tool is running and the row goes idle within a second. Claude Code sends no hook for that moment, so Ember now reads the session's own transcript for it.
- Codex approvals clear the moment the model carries on. Approve a command that keeps running in the background and the row drops "Needs you" as soon as Codex resumes, instead of waiting for the command to finish.
- Every state change is traceable. Whatever Ember learned from a transcript lands in the same ledger as the hooks, marked as such.
-
0.3.3
- Active sessions on top. Sessions that need you come first, then the ones burning, then idle ones, whichever agent they belong to. While the panel is open the order holds still, so nothing jumps under your cursor.
- More reliable "Needs you". A prompt is now paired with the exact tool call it belongs to, so a parallel tool finishing beside it, or a subagent working in the background, can no longer clear or hold it wrongly.
- Codex questions show as "Needs you". When Codex asks you something through its own question tool, the row says so instead of reading as burning.
- A hook ledger. Every hook event is written to
~/Library/Logs/Ember/hook.log(agent, session, event, tool, outcome, never a payload), so a wrong state can be traced instead of guessed.
-
0.3.2
- Separate alert sounds. Pick one sound for when an agent needs input and another for when a session finishes, each with a Test button in Alerts. Both start Off.
- Quieter when you're already there. Ember won't sound for a session whose window is already frontmost.
-
0.3.1
- Notification sounds now play. Pick a sound in Alerts, and the Test button, and you'll actually hear it.
-
0.3.0
- Dedicated Settings window, a real window with a top icon-tab nav, in the macOS System Settings idiom.
- Codex / ChatGPT app sessions now appear, Ember trusts its Codex hooks, so desktop ChatGPT activity shows up.
- Gemini CLI & Copilot CLI support.
- Localhost, mastered, every dev server by name, one row per process, responding or not, with one-click Open and Stop.
- Notification sounds, choose a sound and test it right there.
- A new flame app icon.
- Lighter on the CPU, plus a cleaner, better-aligned panel.
